Gore went over the mark on a 41-yard run in the second quarter of the Bills clash with the New England Patriots on Sunday.

The 36-year-old joins Emmitt Smith, Walter Payton and Barry Sanders in the elite category.

He also reached 252 yards for the season in the first half, marking the most in the first four games for a player aged 36 or over.

Gore is in his first season with Buffalo. He started his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers after he was drafted in the third round in 2005, before spending three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and one year at the Miami Dolphins.

His efforts were not enough to help the Bills to a win, however, as they went down 16-10 in what is their first defeat of the campaign.
