So that much hasn’t changed, at least, with his ultimate choice.

Different legend, though.
McQuaid, of Duncanville (Tex.) High, withdrew his pledge to SMU and Hall of Famer Larry Brown in July because he wanted to take some recruiting visits and be certain of his decision. Apparently he was not, because Thursday morning he committed to play NCAA basketball for Michigan State and Tom Izzo.
McQuaid visited the MSU campus last weekend and tweeted that he was enjoying the visit. Thursday he told Scout.com’s Evan Daniels he would join the Spartans in the fall of 2015.
“I chose Michigan State because I made a good relationship with Coach Izzo,” McQuiad told Daniels.
“I feel like I fit in really good in their system,” he added. “When I went down, there I learned a lot from the other guys and they always have guys coming back trying to help. Draymond Green and Gary Harris came back. They always have people coming back. There’s tradition there. I liked that, and they win.”
Izzo has led Michigan State to the Final Four six times, and they won the 2000 NCAA championship. In March, the Spartans won the Big Ten Tournament title with a victory over rival Michigan.
McQuaid’s commitment continues a strong 2015 recruiting effort for Izzo. Ranked No. 72 by Scout.com, he is considered an exceptional shooter and makes a solid complement to rugged wing athlete Kyle Ahrens of Versailles, Ohio. The highest-ranked prospect the Spartans have landed so far is 6-9 Deyonta Davis of Muskegon, Mich., who is ranked No. 29 by Scout.
