The game actually opened Broncos -26.5, but some money came in on the underdog Jags, and the line was adjusted to 26.
There’s since been action on Denver laying the 26, according to SuperBook assistant manager Jeff Sherman.
The 26.5 marks the largest NFL spread the LVH has ever released, Sherman noted on Twitter.
The Patriots were 25.5-point favorites vs. the Eagles in 2007, per Marc Lawrence’s Playbook. New England failed to cover in a 27-24 win (the Pats were also 19-point favorite at Baltimore, 20.5-point favorites vs. the Jets, and 22-point favorites vs. the Dolphins that season, and didn’t get the cash in any of those games).
Since 1978, of the 27 underdogs of 17 or more points, 19 have covered the spread (this year's Jags, however, are not among that group, as they lost, 45-17, as 19.5-point dogs at Seattle in Week 3).
